My Name is Robbie is the twelfth episode of The Oblongs.

Synopsis[]

A trip to the Globocide Amusement Park goes awry when Bob suffers a severe jaw injury, crippling his ability to work. Following the advice of their lawyers, Globocide decides to compensate Bob by building him his own robotic suit to be able to walk and get back to work.

Plot[]

The Oblongs go to an amusement park where Bob is deemed too short for many of the rides. He sneaks onto one, only to be flung out into the ballpit, injuring his jaw. He is rendered unable to work. In order to avoid a lawsuit, Globocide grants Bob a robotic suit dubbed "Arms and Legs 2000." He is able to walk and run with the suit, but causes an accident at work and quits after a confrontation with Mr. Klimer.

He decides to become a lifeguard, and meets Dusty a Hill lifeguard, who takes him under her wing. However, the Hill citizen's behavior rubs off on Bob and he begins to alienate himself from his family, with Beth's birthday nearing. On top of that, his jaw injury heals, but he refuses to discard the suit. The day ends up conflicting with the Lifeguard games, where Bob will be made a full-fledged lifeguard if he wins. He promises he will be back in time, but when one of The Australians needs time to digest his food, he ends up missing it.

During the race, Bob's suit shorts out and sinks, thus losing the race as he is saved by one of the Australians. He realizes he's missed Beth's birthday and feels horrible, but then his family arrives and forgives him. However, he fails to notice Beth hugging his leg and decides to discard the suit, sending it into the sea.

Shortly after, Dusty is swept out by the tide. The Australians are too large to get through the crevice to save her. Bob heroically pulls her out. She questions the loss of his limbs before declaring her love for him, however he rejects her advances and returns to his family.

Shortly after a shark attacks the beach, now wearing Bob's suit.
